SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program focuses on rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention services. TAC supports SSVF grantees and communities throughout the country, coordinating and delivering specialized training, site visits, and consultation. In 2016, nearly 4 in 5 veterans helped by SSVF successfully ended their homelessness and moved into permanent housing.
Since the inception of the SSVF program in 2011, TAC has provided remote and group trainings, tools, and curricula to support grantee operations and growth. As the field has become more sophisticated, we have added support for broader community planning efforts, implementation of promising practices, the use of resource and demand analysis to inform program operations, and meeting the federal criteria and benchmarks for ending veteran homelessness. In 2017, TAC and partners organized two Rapid Re-Housing Institutes for SSVF grantees and other practitioners from around the country seeking to make rapid re-housing a key component in their efforts to prevent and end homelessness.
