National Alliance on Mental Illness

TAC provides support and guidance for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on the impact of federal policies regarding community integration; housing; Medicaid and health reform; and best practice policy, systems and services design, and financing in the community. Recent TAC/NAMI activities included a series of webinars, the first of which provided NAMI affiliates information on Olmstead and community integration; states' decision making processes; reinvestment of funds and financing strategies; best practices for housing and services; and advocacy strategies for working with State Mental Health Authorities on state hospital closures.

A related two-part webinar provided an overview of managed behavioral health care, including strategies for NAMI members to successfully influence state Medicaid and mental health authorities regarding managed care approaches and contracting requirements.
