TAC provided technical assistance and consultation to the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) to support its transition to Medicaid funding & third party billing. TAC performed an environmental scan of national models to demonstrate how state substance use authorities establish relationships with their state Medicaid authority and/or Medicaid managed care entities regarding the delivery of substance use disorder services, and provided support for BSAS' redesign of its residential programs including identification of opportunities to maximize Medicaid and other reimbursement for services. TAC also provided technical support and training to BSAS' providers on utilization management, quality improvement, and compliance monitoring strategies, and advised providers regarding the infrastructure needed to become a qualified Medicaid provider.
