Webinar on Developing Effective State-Local Partnerships to Promote Community Integration

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

On Friday May 17, 2013, a free webinar titled 'Developing Effective Partnerships with Local Housing Providers to Promote Community Integration: Strategies for State Behavioral Health and Medicaid Agencies' is being sponsored by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) Olmstead Initiative and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office for Civil Rights.  The webinar, which will be held from 1:00- 2:00 pm E.T., will provide state behavioral health and Medicaid agencies with specific strategies, tools, and resources to build successful partnerships for the development of affordable, appropriate housing and services at the local level to promote successful community integration for people with disabilities.  Developing these resources requires thoughtful collaboration across state government agencies and local public housing agencies in order to maximize opportunities for financing and linking housing with evidence-based services that promote recovery and independence. Presenters will discuss federal programs and policies to support these efforts, and share lessons learned from the State of Delaware's efforts to create 650 new units of affordable housing for adults with serious mental illness by 2016.
