The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Eric K. Shinseki announced today the award of nearly $300 million in new grants to help end veteran homelessness under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The grants have been awarded to 319 community agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, and will help approximately 120,000 homeless and at-risk veterans and their families.
SSVF awards grants to nonprofit organizations and consumer cooperatives to provide a range of supportive services designed to promote permanent housing stability among very low-income veterans and their families. TAC and its partner Abt Associates continue to provide technical assistance for SSVF program grantees in partnership with the VA SSVF Program Office.
