The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently awarded the Technical Assistance Collaborative, Inc. (TAC) $2.75 million in technical assistance and capacity building to assist states and local communities to meet the needs of very low-income and homeless people, including chronically homeless individuals, veterans, and families.

These funds will be used by TAC to assist communities and nonprofit organizations achieve the highest levels of performance and results related to homeless assistance and the production of more affordable housing. In addition, these resources will be used to assist states, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and Continuum of Care planning groups to understand and implement new requirements codified in the Homeless Emergency and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act.

TAC's technical assistance will result in the creation of additional units of permanent supportive housing, increased access to mainstream resources by homeless individuals and families, and improved efficiency in the administration of federal homeless resources.
