Strengthening Our Future — A New Report on Trauma-Informed Diversion for Youth with Behavioral Health Conditions

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

Over 75 percent of youth in the juvenile justice system have experienced traumatic victimization. Jointly released by the National Center for Mental Health & Juvenile Justice (NCMHJJ) and TAC, Strengthening Our Future draws on the experiences of states participating in an initiative, funded by SAMHSA and the MacArthur Foundation, to implement probation-intake diversion strategies for youth with behavioral health conditions. The report describes a trauma-informed juvenile justice diversion approach, and includes case studies from Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Tennessee.
