TAC Assists VA in Hosting SSVF Grantee Regional Meetings
As part of its grant with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide TA to for the VA's Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program, TAC is working with the VA to host a series of ten Regional Meetings for SSVF grantee staff involved in delivering SSVF services and collecting SSVF program data. These interactive, in-person meetings are an opportunity for grantees to come together to learn from each other, share best practices, and discuss common challenges and successful strategies for implementing the SSVF Program.
Two regional meetings took place in Los Angeles, CA and Durham, NC in December 2012. Regional meetings in 2013 include seven being held in January in Kansas City, MO, Pittsburgh, PA, Tampa, FL, Worcester, MA, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, and Tacoma, WA, and one in Denver, CO in early February. The Regional Meetings are designed to provide networking opportunities among grantees, as well as small and large group sessions on such topics as: the SSVF program's role and effectiveness in local homeless systems; prevention screening and prioritization approaches; finding and engaging homeless Veterans; developing reasonable housing plans; providing the right amount of assistance for the right amount of time; working with Veterans with significant housing barriers; and ensuring data quality and using data to guide program improvements.
