The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA's) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) has announced that it is currently accepting applications for the Grants for the Benefit of Homeless Individuals-Services in Supportive Housing (GBHI-SSH) program for fiscal year 2014.

The GBHI-SSH program aims to integrate treatment and services for veterans who are homeless or chronically homeless and non-veteran individuals who experience chronic homelessness. Grants will be awarded to increase the number of individuals with substance use or co-occurring substance use and mental disorders into permanent supportive housing. SAMHSA funds can be used for behavioral health treatment and recovery oriented services; housing and services coordination; and public benefit program (Medicaid, TANF, etc.) enrollment.

It is anticipated that up to 25 grants, totaling approximately $9,981,470, will be awarded in fiscal year 2014 to local governments; federally recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribes and tribal organizations; urban Indian organizations; public or private universities and colleges; and community and faith based organizations.
