New NLIHC Report & Upcoming Webinar on Aligning Federal Low Income Housing Programs with Housing Need
The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) has released a new research report, Aligning Federal Low Income Housing Programs with Housing Need, which explores if and how existing federal rental housing production programs serve the lowest income households. The report finds that while the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and other programs do serve extremely low-income (ELI) households - defined as those with incomes at or below 30% of area median income (AMI) - they rarely do so without relying on housing vouchers. The report also features innovative strategies used by affordable housing developers to achieve deep affordability in their properties without relying on vouchers and includes five case studies of such properties.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2015, NLIHC will host a webinar featuring TAC’s Ann O’Hara, along with Megan Bolton and Sheila Crowley from the NLIHC, to discuss the report findings on at 2:00 pm E.T.
