New Community Integration Technical Assistance Center at TAC
The Technical Assistance Collaborative, Inc. (TAC) is pleased to announce the Community Integration Center at TAC. TAC established the Community Integration Center (CICTAC) to serve as a national resource to government agencies and other clients to ensure that systems are equipped to facilitate the community integration of people with disabilities who are living in or at risk of entering institutional settings. The Center organizes the policy, services and housing design and financing, and government expertise of TAC to meet the technical assistance (TA) needs of clients seeking to promote community integration.
Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the U.S. Supreme Court's Olmstead decision in 1999, states continue to struggle to serve people with disabilities in the least restrictive, most integrated settings, resulting in overreliance on institutional care and unnecessary homelessness and incarceration. Through CICTAC, a team of nationally recognized human services and housing experts is available to assist government agencies and other clients with ADA and Olmstead compliance through a team or individualized approach depending on specific client needs.
CICTAC will also be guided by a National Advisory Board composed of nationally recognized experts in the field. The Advisory Board will inform the Center on policy direction, best practices and trends in community integration.
The Center is lead by TAC's Executive Director, Kevin Martone. For more information on CICTAC, how to join the advisory board, or to retain services from the CICTAC team, contact us at 617-266-5657, extension 122 or visit us at http://communityintegration.tacinc.org.
