NASMHPD Releases Report on Medicaid Expansion under the ACA
The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) has released a new report that provides a detailed evaluation of the impact on states that either choose to opt in or not participate in Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The new Medicaid expansion effort has the potential to cover more people with behavioral health disorders and to improve the quality of care delivered to this population. By examining the potential impact on state budgets and finances, the report aims to inform state officials such as Governors and key Cabinet Officials, State Legislatures, State Behavioral Health Agencies, other State and Local officials such as Medicaid agencies, and advocacy groups as they weigh and make decisions regarding their states' participation in the Medicaid expansion initiative.
