Jim Yates to Present at NCHV’s Veterans Access to Housing Summit
The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) is hosting the 2014 Veterans Access to Housing Summit November 13-14 in New Orleans which will bring together 150 experienced providers, developers, and funding agencies. The interactive workshops offered at this year's Housing Summit will allow participants to give local perspective on changing Federal programs, develop concrete action items for approaching local stakeholders, and learn about new funding mechanisms to increase a community's housing stock.
TAC Senior Associate Jim Yates will be presenting during 2 of 5 interactive workshops on Creating New Affordable Housing Options for Veterans. The first will discuss integrated permanent supportive housing (PSH) strategies including state Housing Finance Agency efforts to develop integrated PSH utilizing state, federal, and private funding sources. Strategies to connect veteran-specific and mainstream financing models to develop new integrated supportive housing will be explored, and an overview of HUD's Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) Program will be provided.
The second session will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's 1999 Olmstead decision (1999) and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and their impact on current housing planning processes for states. The various types of activities that are involved in Olmstead planning and the types of information contained in Olmstead Plans will be explored.
