HUD Webinar on Strategies to Increase Health Insurance Enrollment for People Who Are Homeless
As part the webinar series being developed through its Housing and Healthcare (H²) TA initiative, the U.S, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently announced an upcoming webinar titled “Strategies to Increase Health Insurance Enrollment for People Who Are Homeless” which will take place February 24, 2015 at 2 PM EST. The webinar will present a range of opportunities and strategies designed to support organizations serving homeless populations in their efforts to enroll clients in available health insurance, including Medicaid, and will provide specific steps that organizations can take to overcome barriers to enrollment along with detailed information on how to facilitate access to enrollment and health care. Key subject matter experts and leaders in this field will showcase their work and will include:
- Jessica Kendall, Director of the Enrollment Assister Network, Families USA
- Barbara DiPietro, Director of Policy, National Health Care for the Homeless
- Katie League, Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator, Baltimore Health Care for the Homeless
- Kristin Lupfer, Project Director, SAMHSA SOAR TA, Policy Research Associates
The webinar primarily targets agencies administering HUD-funded CoC and HOPWA housing and supportive services, but is also open to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grantees with a key role in collaborating with HUD’s grantees to address the healthcare needs of people experiencing homelessness (i.e., Ryan White and Health Center grantees, Runaway and Homeless Youth Program grantees, SAMHSA Targeted Homeless and HIV Programs grantees).
