HUD Provides Alternative Accessibility Standard for Section 504 Compliance

Monday, June 02, 2014

On May 23, 2014, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued an alternative accessibility standard that recipients of federal financial assistance from HUD may use to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and HUD's implementing regulation at 24 CFR part 8, until HUD formally revises its Section 504 regulation to adopt an updated accessibility standard.

HUD's current Section 504 regulation requires programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance to be readily accessible to and usable by people with disabilities.
