HUD Awards $1.8 Billion for Local Homeless Programs

Monday, January 26, 2015

Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the award of $1.8 billion in grant funding to 8,400 local homeless housing and service programs across the country. This Continuum of Care (CoC) funding supports the Obama Administration's efforts to end homelessness among individuals and families by renewing funding for thousands of existing programs that provide transitional and permanent supportive housing, rapid re-housing, and street outreach.

HUD’s funding announcement included nearly $45 million to 25 communities based on their strategies for leveraging Medicaid funds to pay for services in permanent supportive housing.
