HRSA Announces Funding to Expand Service Access at Health Centers

Wednesday, June 04, 2014

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently announced the availability of $300 million in funding to help expand service access and capacity at community health centers throughout the country. The funds, made available as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), will assist community health centers to:

  • Expand service hours
  • Hire additional medical providers
  • Increase availability of medical services and, if interested
  • Provide additional services such as oral health, behavioral health, pharmacy, and/or vision services.

The nation's community health centers are an important part of the health care safety net; promoting access to healthcare services for underserved and vulnerable populations such as people experiencing homelessness and individuals and families living in public housing.

Applications for Expanded Services funding are due by July 1, 2014.
