HHS Announces Funding to Expand Behavioral Health Services

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently announced that $50 million will be awarded to expand services for people with mental illness and substance use disorders. The funding will be used to establish or expand behavioral health services at Community Health Centers, and is estimated to support approximately 200 centers nationwide. This funding was made available through the Affordable Care Act, which expands parity protections as well as mental health and substance use disorder benefits.
