On April 8, 2011, HUD published the Fiscal Year 2010 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Program. The NOFA includes approximately $114 million in Capital Advance and PRAC funds to create approximately 899 new units of supportive housing for non-elderly people with disabilities.
PLEASE NOTE: Because these funds were appropriated in HUD's FY 2010 budget, this NOFA does not implement the new approaches to creating Section 811 units authorized by the Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act. The reformed Section 811 program - which was signed into law by President Obama in January of 2011 - will be implemented during FY 2012. Section 811 applications submitted in response to this NOFA are due to HUD on June 23, 2011 and must be submitted through grants.gov.
HUD is currently exploring the possibility of including the $50 million from the FY2011 appropriation for the Section 811 Capital Advance/PRAC in the current FY10 NOFA published in the Federal Register on April 8, 2011. If this occurs, the amount of funds available for development of new units in the FY10 NOFA would be $164 million.
