CMS Releases Starter Kit for NWD/SEP Systems Workforce Development

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a starter kit to help No Wrong Door/Single Entry Point Systems (NWD/SEPs) in their rebalancing, diversion and transition activities through infrastructure development and improvement. NWD/SEPs bring together multiple organizations in a community to assist older adults and people with disabilities and chronic conditions remain in their homes through access to home and community based long-term services and supports (LTSS).

The increase of older adults and people with disabilities living in the community brings an increased demand for direct service workers to support LTSS. The document, "Starter Kit for No Wrong Door/ Single Entry Point Systems Working to Strengthen the Home and Community-Based Direct Service Workforce" provides information on the direct service workforce, and how involvement in workforce development can assist NWD/SEPs in their nursing home diversion and community transition activities.
