On March 27, 2013, the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) issued an Informational Bulletin to help inform states about resources available to help them meet the needs of children under Medicaid's Early and Periodic Screening Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) requirement. EPSDT is the Medicaid program's comprehensive preventive child health benefit. The bulletin specifically focuses on how EPSDT can be used in the prevention and early identification of mental health and substance use disorder conditions for youth. The bulletin also provides a brief overview of the EPSDT programs in several states including Massachusetts, North Carolina, Colorado, and South Carolina.
