CMS Releases Guidance on Coverage of Behavioral Health Services

The Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released an informational bulletin describing coverage and service design opportunities for individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders. The bulletin outlines principles and goals for coverage and highlights resources available to states seeking to promote community living opportunities and improve integration of physical and behavioral health. This bulletin is part of a series dedicated to the topic of benefit design and best practices in the treatment of behavioral health disorders.
