CMS Announces 2013 Children’s Core Set of Health Care Quality Measures
On January 24, 2013, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a letter to state health and Medicaid officials identifying changes to the Initial Children's Core Set of Health Care measures. This information is used to evaluate states annually on the quality of health care available to children through Medicaid and CHIP programs. The 2013 changes include measures regarding:
-
The percent of pre-adolescent girls who receive the Human Papillomavirus vaccines.
-
The percent of children (5-18) who are diagnosed with asthma, who are receiving medication to control their asthma.
