TAC Hosting Workshops for IHT Providers

Monday, November 24, 2014

TAC is pleased to announce a series of workshops for Massachusetts providers of In-Home Therapy (IHT) services. As the name suggests, In-Home Therapy (IHT) is a strength-based, collaborative, therapeutic service funded by MassHealth and delivered in a family's home to treat the youth's behavioral health challenges. Coloring Between the Lines: Merging Creativity with Structure in In-Home Therapy is a series of workshops which will outline the key components and considerations found in the IHT Practice Guidelines. Two sessions are being held in each of the five MassHealth regions in 2015. These workshops are free. Social Work, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Continuing Education credits are being offered to interested participants at no cost.

Session 1 (January - February 2015)

Home-based therapy is a unique enterprise with particular opportunities and challenges. This workshop begins an outline of the Massachusetts IHT practice guidelines and highlights ways in which these standards can be used to enhance clinical effectiveness. It introduces some innovative ways of re-thinking in-home therapy, offers a simple outline for approaching initial assessments, examines new ways of thinking about and utilizing "strengths" in this work, and highlights ways in which these ideas can be used in treatment planning and care coordination.

Registration for Session 1 (January – February 2015) is closed.

Session 2 (April - May 2015)

This workshop continues an outline of the Massachusetts IHT practice guidelines and highlights ways in which these standards can be used to enhance clinical effectiveness. It provides an over-arching framework to include family members as active participants in their own care with particular attention to providing culturally relevant services, revisits the importance of care coordination as an important clinical activity, and offers concrete practices for transition planning.

Please note: The training location for the Northeastern session on April 24th has changed. This training is now being held at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA. Additionally, the date for the Southeastern Session has changed to Friday, May 8th. This training will still be held at Child and Family Services in New Bedford. For more information, view the registration links in the flyer below.
