National Health Care for the Homeless Council Policy Brief Highlights TAC’s Work in Louisiana

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

The National Health Care for the Homeless Council recently published a policy brief that highlights TAC's work developing Louisiana's Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Program, the nation's first large-scale cross-disability integrated PSH initiative to include sustainable funding for both housing and supportive services. The brief describes how the state used a Medicaid 1915(i) home and community-based services (HCBS) state plan amendment and a1915(c) HCBS waiver to embed PSH interventions into services covered in the state's Medicaid program. The program has provided housing for over 2,500 of the most vulnerable people with disabilities across Louisiana's Gulf Coast region and has reduced average monthly Medicaid costs per person.
