Congressional Commission Releases Recommendations on LTSS

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

On September 12, 2013, the Federal Commission on Long-Term Care released a report on Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS). The report outlines recommendations made by the Commission in the areas of long term-care service delivery, workforce, finance and advancing a national advisory committee on long-term services and supports. The recommendations support a vision of a LTSS service delivery system that is responsive, integrated, person-centered and fiscally sustainable.

The Commission on Long Term Care was created by the American Taxpayer Relief Act to recommend how LTSS for older adults and people with disabilities can be improved. Recommendations were made based on testimony from experts, including TAC's Executive Director, Kevin Martone, who testified before the Commission on July 17th, 2013 about the current state of the mental health system, and the need for integrated services.
